Cookie Sticks

Ingredients

  • 250g softened butter
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 150g cornflour
  • 300g plain flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 orange, zested
  • 150g dark chocolate chips
  • 1-2 tbsp Dr Oetker hundreds and thousands

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C, fan 170°C, gas mark 5. 
  2. Whisk the butter and sugar together in a bowl until pale and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and whisk again.
  4. Fold in the flour, cornflour and orange zest and mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll out into a rectangle on parchment paper then transfer to the tray.
  6. Cover with parchment paper and roll until about 8mmthick and totally flat.
  7. Cut into 1cm wide strips.
  8. Transfer to lined baking trays, separating them slightly.
  9. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until just lightly coloured and firm to touch.
  10. Remove and allow to cool totally before handling.
  11. Melt the remaining chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  12. Dunk the end of the cookie sticks into the melted chocolate.
  13. Set on a rack, sprinkle with the Hundreds and Thousands and leave until set.
